Exploring Niagara Falls

Viewing Niagara Falls at different times of the day definitely changes the mood of the experience. On my recent trip to Niagara Falls, I was awe struck at the sheer beauty and majesty of the 3,160 tons of water that flow over Niagara Falls every second. I have been to the falls before, but I can say honestly on this trip I looked at the falls differently. In the past, I took a quick photo with my phone camera and moved on to new things to look at but on this trip I was overcome with the sheer magnitude of force of the water. I paid attention to the way the light hit the falls, how beautiful the rainbows appear when the light hits the mist at just the right time and place. And each time I witnessed the beauty of God’s creation I was reminded that His mercies are new every day.

I took a wide angle lens with me to Niagara Falls and I am so glad I did so that I could capture the entire width of the whirlpool. I was amazed at how large the giant whirlpool was and how fast the water moved. Interestingly, tourists enjoy riding the cable car from one end of the whirlpool to the other. My preference is to stand on an observation deck safely planted on the ground.

In the early evening, as the sun was setting it would create these most amazing rainbows. The evening light show was amazing but it had nothing on the beauty of a natural light show.

We took a drive out to Niagara-on-the-Lake for a little bit of down time and enjoyed taking in the scenery, shopping and delicious food. Even though I do not intend to, I am almost always finding myself taking close up photographs of flower details.

A trip to Niagara Falls would not be complete without a trip through wine country. There were many winery’s to choose from but for this trip we visited Pellar Estates Winery & Restaurant located at Niagara-on-the-Lake.
